About Johan
Johan and his wife Doret have been married for the past 41 years.
They have three children and four grandchildren and they live in Mbombela, South Africa.
Johan holds a master’s degree in National Strategy from the University of Johannesburg
as well as a Diploma in Theology from the Apostolic Faith Mission Seminary.
Johan served as the Senior Pastor of a church for 12 years. Johan and Doret are also part of the Restoring the Foundations Ministry.
What is Christian Spirituality?
God is a Spiritual Being. The creator, maintainer, and ruler of the universe. He reveals Himself as God the Father, Jesus the Anointed One, and the Holy Spirit.
God placed a unique spirit in each of us. This is our core being. It defines who we are. The human spirit can become captive, oppressed, spiritually blind, defiled, broken, crushed, fragmented, and spiritually impoverished. This could happen because of trauma, disobedience, rebellion towards God, and sin for example pride, greed, lust, envy, unbelief, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. Due to this, we become self-centered, unhappy, unfulfilled, destructive, and evil.
We cannot through personal effort and intellectual power, sanctify, heal and restore our own spirits. We are eternally doomed. We need a Rescuer/Redeemer. God provided a way out of our misery and eternal damnation. Jesus of Nazareth was anointed to cleanse, heal, deliver, transform, and restore our spirit. This has a dramatic impact on our daily lives and eternity.
When we accept Jesus Christ as our savior and submit to His authority, the process of sanctification commences.
What will happen to me when I submit to Jesus Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to teach and guide me?
The answer is yes. Over time, your spirit will be healed, delivered, transformed, and restored. You will start hearing God’s voice when he communicates with you. You will come to a place of inner joy and peace. You will develop passion for life. Your relationships may be healed. Your spirit will mature. Your consciousness may expand, and you may become aware of a world bigger than ours – the spirit world.
Is the process of transformation of my spirit an easy process?
Initially it was difficult for me. I was stubborn, selfish and independent. God then in His mercy, gave me an indication of His awesome power and authority. He is extremely dangerous but He is good. He should be respected. God also gave me a glimpse of His love for me. He protected me in dangerous situations and taught me. He never judged me when I was wrong. This changed my life.
I learned to submit myself to God and that was the best thing I did in my life! The Holy Spirit started with a process of restoring my spirit. It became an amazing adventure! You can read more about this in my book. I believe my testimony will amaze you! To God all the glory!
Why a web site about Christian spirituality?
There is a lot of information available with regards to spirituality in general. There is less information about spirituality from a Christian perspective and even less information about the human spirit.
I believe that the human spirit and its rebirth or transformation process under guidance of God the Holy Spirit, is one of the central themes in Christianity. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. It is time to rectify this. I hope that this website and my books, will contribute in the process of revealing the awesome mystery of the human spirit.
